Kenya women’s Volleyball team beats Mexico 3-1

The Kenya ladies team defeated fellows newcomers Mexico by three sets to one in Pool ‘Q’ and stand as the only debutant survivor on the opening day of the Intercontinental Round of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix in Mexico.

Kenyan hitter Mercy Moim topped all scorers with 22 points, leading Lydia Maiyo and Blackie Agala who had 12 points each while Makuto and Ruth Jepngetich had 9 and 8 points respectively as they guided Kenya to a 25-18, 25-23, 18-25, and 25-22 victory.Kenya coach David Lungaho was happy with the victory but commended the efforts of their opponents, especially Lizbeth Sainz, who notched 14 points for the losing side.
