Kenya Pipeline andKDF emerged winners of the inaugural Homa Bay County Government Volleyball Tournament .

Pipeline defeated their arch rivals, national league champions, Prisons Kenya in straight sets of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-18 in the finals played at Homa Bay High School grounds.

To the finals, Pipeline beat Oserian 3-0 ( 25-21,25-13,25-13), while Prisons defeated Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in straight sets of 25-15, 25-13, 25-13 to book a ticket to the finals.

Pipeline head coach Japheth Munala was happy after registering a win against Prisons in a very long time.

“I am happy because we defeated Prisons in the finals. They have been beating us for so long but the results show that we have improved from our previous meetings. The tournament was good and we are now preparing for the Kwale County Government tournament before we embark on the play-offs after the tournament,” said the tactician.

In the men’s category, KDF humbled Kenya Prisons in straight sets 25-21, 25-11, 30-28 to clinch the title.

To the finals, Prisons beat local champions General Service Unit (GSU), while Kenya KDF defeated Finlay in straight sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-12 to book slots to the final.

At the same time Kenya Prisons men’s team and GSU have already booked their slots in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National playoffs set for next Month in Nairobi

Tunisia to host 2014 Women's African club Championship .

Cairo, Egypt, January 24, 2014 - The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has granted Tunisia the hosting rights for the 2014 Women's African Club Championship, which will run from April 17 – 28 in Carthage.

The competition that already attracts the biggest number of teams for a continental women’s championship is expected to feature a new record number of participants, up from the 16 teams that took part in Kenya 2012.

Kenya Prisons will once again defend the African Club title after winning the past four editions. 

The decision means that Tunisia will organise both the CAVB Men’s and Women’s African Club Championships, with the men’s tournament set to run in Sousse from March 18 to 30, 2014 from which the winner will earn a direct ticket to the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship in Brazil.


The 2014 edition will not be a qualifier for the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship after Africa lost its direct vacancy in the women's gender.
